#optoutside at Lettuce Lake Park

I’m not a big fan of all the Black Friday madness.

I actually prefer what REI does- close and encourage people to go outside. See, this is helpful to avoid getting into fist fights with someone over the latest toy and it helps burn off all that dessert you had the night before.

Their #optoutside campaign is great and I really wanted to particaipte in it, but the weather was lousy on Friday here. So we hung around at home and went to 2 post offices to get Hunter’s passport processed for our upcoming cruise. Fun stuff! ha!

But on Saturday we hit up Lettuce Lake Park to stroll around the loop and take in the greenery.

The park isn’t too far from our house and the City of Tampa, so we like to come here when the weather is nice. The oak canopies are just to beautiful that I can’t resist it.

And the dogs like any excuse to be out in fresh air.

We use these “In Training” bandannas (from Pooch Crafts) just to help other’s know that we like space since the dogs get a little too excited.

Also, I give them a lot of praise and corrections while walking, so I swear people also  judge me a little less when I am talking to the dogs if the bandannas are on.

Besides the main loop that takes you around the park, there is a boardwalk that takes you over the lake.

Strollers and dogs aren’t allowed on it as it’s pretty narrow, so I stayed back with Hunter and the dogs while Price and Autumn went to stroll around on it.

While Autumn was playing with some kids at the jungle gym, Price walked around with the dogs testing their training by starting and stopping walking, thus making them ‘heel’ and sit without verbal commands. They did such a great job.

Can’t wait for our next visit!
